Grade: 2630_14

The line exits Heathcote Station Ground on the level after crossing a 1 x 15' opeining bridge with abutment sheeting and crosses named Pohlman Street PCR Crossing with 18'6" gates, raised 1.82', then crosses a 3' barrel culvert, cuts a fence and enters a 80C radius right curve.. It then enters Cutting 93 on a slight grade, crosses a fence allotment line, an allotment line, the curve ends, the line exits the cutting by crossing a 3' barrel culvert, crosses named Mitchell Street PCR Crossing with 18'6" gates, raised 0.18', enters Bank 105 on a slight down grade, crosses an unnamed watercourse culvert, 2 allotment lines and a culvert, reaching 27M - 74M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from last Melbourne mileage on adjoining diagram 3303_01.

The line continues its down grade on Bank 105, crosses an Allotment Line, followed by a track, enters Cutting 92, crosses a culvert, an Allotment Line, passes named and closed McIvor Street, with an Allotment Line on each side, passes named and diverted Brodie Street, exits the cutting, passes a diverted watercourse, enters Bank 104 on the level, crosses an Allotment Line, crosses x 1 x 15' opening bridge with abutment sheeting, crosses an Allotment Line, crosses a sludge channel culvert, cuts a fence, passes a diverted watercourse, and crosses an Allotment Line.

The line then enters Cutting 91 on an up grade, cuts a fence Allotment Line, passes named and closed Baynton Street, tops the rise on a surface formation, levels and crosses a culvert and enters Cutting 90, exits to Bank 103 and runs through identified old diggings, enters a 40C radius left curve, and crosses a culvert at an unnamed watercourse. At the end of Bank, the line enters Cutting 89, begins a descent, crosses an unnamed PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, with a fence and a culvert each side, cuts through another fence, the curve ends, the line reaches the end of the old diggings where it exits the cutting to level Bank 102 where it crosses a track, enters Wattle Flat, crosses the Township Boundary, a 30 x 11' openings bridge, crosses another track, an 8 x 11' bridge, enters a 40C radius right curve, exits Wattle flat, commences a slight upward grade and exits the bank to a surface formation. At this point, the line has reachd the 26M point - 75M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.

Grade: 2630_13

Continuing on the upward grade, the line enters Bank 101, crossing a culvert in old diggings, the curve ends, the line enters another old diggings section, passes a diverted culvert, starts a down grade into Cutting 88 where it passes a diverted track, enters a 35C radius left curve, exits on the level to Bank 100, crosses another track, crosses a 12 x 11' openings bridge at named Mosquito Gully, also crossing a sludge channel from a puddling machine, continues on an up grade, crosses a track at the end of the old gold diggings, runs through a short section of old gold workings, enters a 30C radius curve, crosses a track, enters Bank 99 and another old gold workings section, crosses a 6 x 7' openings bridge, passes a diverted watercourse, enters Cutting 86, the curve ends, the line levels, exits the old gold workings section and starts a down grade, passes a diverted watercourse, enters Bank 98, crosses 2 culverts, enters Cutting 85, reaching the 25M point - 76M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.

The line enters a 60C radius curve, and, exiting Cutting 85, the line crossed a culvert, followed by the named Cleared Track to Wild Duck PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, raised 2.58' and continued into Bank 97, crosses named Saw-pit Gully with a 9 x 11' openings bridge, passing through old shallow alluvial gold workings, the curve ends, the line cuts a fence, runs through named Herman's Garden where the line levels, cuts 2 other fences, enters Bank 96 on a rising grade where it crosses a culvert.

The line then enters a 40C radius left curve and enters Cutting 84, crosses a culvert and runs through 2 sections identified as Surface Stripped for Gold mining purposes, via Bank 95, enters Cutting 83, levels, commences a down grade into Bank 94, the curve ends, the line crosses a culvert and passes a mullock heap, enters a surface formation, enters a 60C radius right curve, then a low and short cutting 80, Cutting 79, passing an unnamed and closed road, cuts a fence, the curve ends and the line exits the cutting to Bank 93 where it crosses an unnamed watercourse via a 5 x 7' openings (10.67m total) bridge, crosses a culvert, an Occupation crossing, enters a surface formation, enters a 40C radius right curve, and reached the 24M point - 77M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.

The 5 x 7' openings bridge at the unnamed watercourse was mentioned in official correspondece dated November, 1945 as requiring renewal. It was planned to replace it with a 4 x 12'6" openings (15.24m total) bridge. Curiously, the completion of the works is not signed off until nearly 8 years later in July, 1953 - just 5 years before line closure. The bridge at this location in 2016 is a 4 openings concrete bridge.

Grade: 2630_12

The line continues on a slight down grade in Bank 92, crossing a 6 x 7' openings bridge, cuts a fence, enters shallow cutting 78, crosses a culvert, the curve ends at the named Road to Wild Duck PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, raised 0.44', followed by an Allotment Line, enters Bank 91 on the level where it crosses a culvert, an Allotment line, passes a diverted watercourse, commences a slight up grade through a surface formation, enters a 30C radius left curve, enters Bank 90, crosses a culvert, tops the grade on a surface formation, and begins a descent into Cutting 77. The curve ends, and the line cuts through a fence at the end of the cutting and enters Bank 89, crosses a 5 x 11' openings bridge, enters Cutting 76, enters a 40C radius right curve, exits to Bank 88 at named Wallace's Gully, where it crosses a 5 x 11' openings bridge.

The line continues on the level through a fence, then crosses the named Road to Heathcote (McIvor Highway) PCR Crossing with 18'6" gates, with a culvert on each side, the curve ends in the crossing, the line cuts 2 fences and enters Bank 87 and the Derrinal Station Ground, reaching 23M - 78M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.
