Grade: 3303_05

The line leaves the Tooborac Station Ground on a downward grade on Bank 50, crossing a 3' barrel culvert, enters a shallow Cutting 40, enters a 40C radius left curve, enters Bank 49, cuts a fence, crosses a culvert, enters cutting 39, straightens near the exit, enters Bank 48, crosses a 5 x 11' openings bridge over an unnamed watercourse, cuts a fence, crosses a named Road to Seymour PCR Crossing without gates, raised by 8.57'

The line then enters Crown land, via Cutting 38, passes a quarry, and enters the future site of the McIvor Timber and Firewood Company.

The line enters Bank 47, crossing x 5 x 7' openings bridge, runs on a surface formation, , enters a 50C radius right curve, enters low Bank 46, to cross named Road to Costerfield (Major's Line Road) PCR Crossing without gates, raised 2.3', with a fence on each side, reaching the 37M point - 64M 1C 94L from Melbourne.

Continuing the down grade, the line enters shallow Cutting 37, enters short Bank 45, straightens, crosses a 5 x 11' openings bridge, through shallow Cutting 36, into low Bank 44, crossing a culvert, entering Cutting 35, then Bank 43, crosses a culvert, ends the curve, enters Cutting 34, enters Bank 42 on the level, crosses a 4' x 4' arch culvert, enters Cutting 33, crosses a culvert on a surface formation, straightens, enters a shallow Cutting 32, then Bank 41 on the level, crossing a 2' barrel culvert, another 2' barrel culvert, passes a diverted watercourse, enters Cutting 31, crosses another 2' barrel culvert, enters Bank 38, straightens and reaches the 36M point - 65M 1C 94L from Melbourne.

Weston Langford, Engineer, (dec. 2014) visited locations on the Wandong, Heathcote and Sandhurst line in 1957. This was just one year before the Sandhurst-Heathcote section closed and he made simple hand drawings of the track infrastructure that he encountered.

One of the locations visited was what he has called Ballast Pits and he has shown the location as 64 and 3/4 miles. This places it at approximately 1.386km. North of the Tooborac-Major's Line Road, near the present day intersection of Harding's Lane and the Northern Highway. He has shown 'crusher' on the plan but it is not known if a crusher was on site at the time of his visit.


The line progresses on Bank 38 on the level, enters a 40C radius right curve, enters Cutting 30, Bank 37, crosses a culvert, enters Cutting 29, enters Bank 36 on the level, crosses a culvert, runs through cutting 28, exits and runs on a surface formation, straightens, enters Bank 35, crosses a double culvert, enters Cutting 27, Bank 34, crosses a 3 x 11' openings bridge over an unnamed watercourse, enters Cutting 26, exits on a down grade, crosses an unnamed PCR Crossing without gates, raised 2.16', followed by a culvert, short Cutting 25, short Bank 33 with a culvert, commences a 60C radius left curve, enters short Cutting 24, short Bank 32 with a culvert, and enters Cutting 23 near the 35M point - 66M 1C 94L from Melbourne.

Continuing on a down grade through Cutting 23, the line enters Bank 31, crosses a culvert, enters Cutting 22, Bank 30, crosses a 3' barrel culvert, enters Cutting 21, followed by Bank 29, crosses a 7 x 11' openings bridge, continues on a surface formation, straightens, cuts a fence, crosses an unnamed One Chain Road PCR Crossing without gates, raised 1.21', continues to Bank 28, enters another surface formation, Bank 27 on the level with a 5 x 7' openings bridge, enters Cutting 20 on a down grade, enters a 40C radius right curve and reaches the 34M point - 67M 1C 94L from Melbourne.

Continuing on the level on Bank 26, the line crosses a 5 x 7' openings bridge, the curve ends, the line cuts a fence, crosses a culvert, commences a slight down grade and enters Cutting 19. This leads to Bank 25, crossing a culvert, a surface forming where a culvert is crossed, into Cutting 18, cuts a fence, enters Bank 24 on the level, enters an 80C radius left curve, crosses a culvert, enters Bank 23 on the level, crosses a 5 x 7' openings bridge over an unnamed watercourse, enters Cutting 17 on a slight down grade, the curve ends, the line enters Bank 22 on the level, crossing a 5 x 7' openings bridge over an unnamed watercourse, enters Cutting 16 on a slight up grade, enters a 40C left curve, near the exit, exits the cutting on the level, commences a slight down grade into Bank 21, crosses a 4' x 4' arch culvert, enters Cutting 15, cuts a fence, enters Bank 20, crosses a culvert, enters Cutting 14 near the 33M point - 68M 1C 94L from Melbourne.

The line crosses a culvert in Bank 19, enters Cutting 14, passes a diverted watercourse, the curve ends, the line enters Bank 18, cuts a fence, levels at a 17 x 15' openings bridge over named McIvor Creek, exits the bridge on a slight up grade through Cutting 13, cuts 2 fences, enters Bank 17, continues on a surface forming and commences a slight down grade.

It then cuts a fence, crosses a culvert, crosses an unnamed road (Northern Highway) PCR Crossing with 18'6" gates, raised 1.76', entering Bank 16 within the crossing and exiting through a fence and entering the McIvor Road Station Ground.
