Grade: 2630_06

On exiting the Axedale Station Ground, the line crosses a culvert, cuts a fence, crosses an unnamed road (Taig Road) PCR Crossing with 18'6" gates, raised 2.14', levels, enters Bank 41, crosses a watercourse via a 5 x 11' openings bridge, cuts through a fence. It then commences an up grade into Cutting 47, reaching the 11M point - 90M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.

The line crosses a track near the exit of Cutting 47, it levels at the exit into Bank 40, then runs level to a fence, followed by an unnamed road (Hickey Road) PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, raised 1.33', followed by a culvert. After the crossing, the line commences a 1 in 74 up grade, enters a 40C radius rght curve, enters Bank 39, Cutting 46, the curve ends and the line enters Bank 38, crossing a culvert, Cutting 45, Bank 37, crossing an Allotment Line and a culvert, Cutting 44, crossing a track and Allotment Line, a track, drain and Allotment Lines at the exit, a lowering of the grade into Bank 36, crosses a culvert, an unnamed, proposed road (access to Axedale Quartz Mining Company's gold mine) PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, raised 1,33', crossed a track, a watercourse via a 3 x 7' openings bridge, another track, a culvert, enters Cutting 43 where the grade is topped. The line enters a 40C radius right curve and then descends into Cutting 42, the curve ends, and the line reaches the 10M point - 91M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.

Grade: 2630_05

After exiting Cutting 42, the line continues through shallow Cutting 41 and crosses unnamed road (Giri's Road) PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, raised 0.17', with a culvert each side, and then enters a level section and cuts a fence. It then continues over an unnamed watercours (a newspaper article refers to it as Blind Gully) via a 3 x 7' openings bridge, cuts another fence, enters a surface formation, enters a 40C radius left curve, crosses a culvert at an unnamed (O'Loughlin's Lane) and closed road and cuts a fence before entering Cutting 40, and commencing a down grade.

At the end of Cutting 40, the curve ends, the line levels into Bank 34 to cross named Saw Pit Gully, via a 7 x 11' openings bridge, commences an up grade and enters Cutting 39 at a culvert and Occupation crossing, continues to an Allotment Line and an unnamed and closed road, then a fence. It continues to the top of the grade, starts a down grade, reaching the 9M point - 92M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01.

Continuing, the grade lessens a little as the line enters Bank 33 to cross a drain culvert, followed by a culvert, fence, unnamed road PCR Crossing, raised 1.21' and another fence. Further along, there is an Allotment Line, an entry to a 100C radius left curve, Cutting 38 within which the curve ends, then a culvert at an unnamed road (Bowles Road) PCR Crossing with 13'6" gates, raised 1.91', with a fence on each side. The line is now on a level grade, crosses a culvert, enters Bank 32, crosses named Sweeney's Creek via a 23 x 11' openings bridge, commences a slight up grade, crosses an Occupation crossing with a culvert each side, another culvert, and enters the Axe Creek (later named Longlea) Station Ground.

The station ground is entered on a 1 in 400 up grade into shallow Cutting 37. While in the station ground, the line reaches the 8M point - 93M 1C 94L from Melbourne, calculated from diagram 3303_01. The West end of the ground is an unnamed road (Longlea Lane) the centre of which is shown almost 6C after the 8M point.
