1870.

The Births, Deaths, and Marriages Index contains an entry showing that Jessie Ingham was born to Napthali and Mary Ann in Brunswick in 1870. The actual date is not shown.

Feb 26: The Argus reports: Tenders for the supply of maintenance metal for the Sydney Road were opened, and that of Mr. N. Ingham accepted, for the bulk sum of £315, for 1,400 yards.

Mar 05: The Weekly Times Argus reports: Tenders for supplying 1,400 yards of maintenance metal for Sydney Road were opened, and that of Mr. N. Ingham, for £315, was accepted.

Aug 17: Ingham places an advertisement in The Argus: Wanted, a Carpenter. Apply at the True Briton Hotel, Brunswick. N. Ingham.

Dec 12: The Argus reports: Brunswick, For 250 yards of metal for Nicholson Street, the tender of Mr. Ingham was accepted.


1871.

Oct 07: The Advocate reports that N. Ingham donated 2s. 6d. to the French War Fund. [This donation is shown for Gambiertown which is located in South Australia. The Advocate is a Melbourne paper and the search was confined to Victoria so it is probably Napthali Ingham.]


1872.

May 24: The Argus reports: Wednesday, May 29, Preliminary Notice, 8 Cottages and 32 Allotments, Brunswick and Coburg. N. Kinsman has received instructions from Mr. Ingham to Sell by Auction, on the ground, all his valuable property, eight cottages and 32 building allotments. Title good, Terms liberal. Sale at twelve o'clock, by N. Kinsman, Auctioneer. [This is assumed to be Napthali Ingham as it is in the same area. It could be a precursor to his leaving the district and that too fits in time.]

May 25:The Argus carries a detailed sale notice: Wednesday, May 29, Preliminary Notice, Eight Houses and 32 Allotments of Land, Brunswick and Coburg. N. Kinsman has received instructions from Mr. Ingham to Sell by Auction, on the ground, all his valuable freehold properties.

Lot 1 - Stone house of six rooms, with land 93ft. frontage to Brunswick Road by 151½ft. deep, and an allotment at the rear, 93ft. to Barkly Street by 151½ft deep; also quarry land adjoining 213ft by 303ft.
Lot 2 - Four wood and brick cottages, Brunswick Road, with allotments.
Lot 3 - Two-roomed weatherboard cottage, Ewing Street, and allotment adjoining.
Lot 4 - Two brick cottages and land off Brunswick Road.
Lot 5-10 - 10 building allotments, Barkly Street.
Lot 6-22 - 22 allotments, Sydney Road, Coburg, 45ft. each by 135ft. deep, near the tollgate. Title good, Terms liberal, declared at sale. Sale at twelve o'clock, by N. Kinsman. [Much of this land exists in or adjoining Ingham's previously mentioned Ewing Street address.]

A similar advertisement to the above also appeared the following day.

Jun 15: The Bendigo Advertiser reports recommended tender acceptances: Ingham, kerbing, £92 10s., was adopted, with the exception of the portion referring to Bloomfield's contract, which it was resolved should not be confirmed unless Mr. Morore, lessee of the property, consented to pay one half of the cost. [This indicates that Ingham has started work in Bendigo.]

Jul 11: Ingham advertises in The Age: Wanted to purchase, two quarry cranes. N. Ingham, True Briton Hotel, Brunswick.

Jul 23: The Argus reports: An amendment that the tender of Mr. Ingham, at 13s. 3d. per yard for flagging, should be accepted, on the ground that the stone supplied by him was more durable, was lost, and the original tender accepted.

Aug 02: Ingham advertises in The Bendigo Advertiser: Wanted, Men, set kerb and pitching, eleven a.m., Builders' Arms Hotel. N. Ingham. [There is a Builders' Arms Hotel in Gertrude Street, Fitzroy.]

Aug 17: The Bendigo Advertiser reports a Council Meeting: From N. Ingham, asking for an extension of the time of his contract for kerbing and channelling at the Bath Corner. In consequence of the bad weather he had been prevented from hurrying on with the job. Consideration deferred.]

Sep 20: The Bendigo Advertiser reports a Strathfieldsaye Shire Council Meeting: From N. Ingham, offering 1,000 yards of bluestone spalls for repairing the McIvor Road. Received with thanks.

Oct 05: Ingham places an advertisement in The Bendigo Advertiser: £1 Reward. Lost, a bay pony, branded O on rump, collar marked. Above reward on delivery to N. Ingham, Five Mile Store, Kangaroo Flat. The advertisement also appears two and three days later.


1873.

Feb 15: The Bendigo Advertiser reports Ingham's tender acceptance: N. Ingham, kerb and channel, McIvor Road, £9 13s.

Mar 15: The Bendigo Advertiser reports that the tender of Ingham and Co,. pitched crossings, 13s. per yard, is adopted.

Mar 15: The Bendigo Advertiser reports that the City Council has accepted the tender of Ingham and Co., pitched crossings, 10s per square yard, Milroy Street.

Mar 17: Ingham advertises in The Age: Wanted, two Quarrymen, a Cube Dresser and Setter, and Masons. Apply N. Ingham, Brunswick Road, Brunswick.

Mar 22: The Bendigo Advertiser reports that the City Council: For kerbing and channelling the footpath outside the Town Hall, Ingham's tender at £75 8s 6d, was accepted.

Mar 22: The Bendigo Advertiser reports Ingham's tender acceptance: basalt pitchers, Ingham and Co., 10s per yard.

Apr 02: The Bendigo Advertiser contains a detailed article about Axedale bluestone, comparing it with Malmsbury bluestone. The article mentions that Ingham, who recently came from Melbourne, is supplying Axedale bluestone to Bendigo.

Apr 12: The Bendigo Advertiser contains an article stating that it is imperative that bluestone should be procured from Axedale for roadmaking and beautification of the city.

Apr 26: The Bendigo Advertiser contains a small article: The surveyor recommended that in default of obtaining road metal from the Railway Department, that High Street be metalled with stone from the Belle Vue and adjacent reefs, which is very tough; and that Bridge Street be metalled with broken quartz from the White Hills and Gravel Hill. He further recommended that steps be taken with a view to obtaining basalt metal from Axedale for the future, particularly for principal roads.


1874.

Dec 17: The McIvor Times and Rodney Advertiser advises that a hotel licence renewal is granted to A. Ingham.


1875.

Jun 28: The Bendigo Advertiser advises that Mr. Napthali Ingham's application for 2 roods, 4-10th perches of land at Axedale, for the purposes of a rural inn, is approved. [This is the site of the ruins of Ingham's Quarry Hotel.]

Sep 03: The Bendigo Advertiser contains a City Police Court article in which it is detailed that Mary Ingham, Innkeeper, Axedale, charges John Tilson with stealing a bottle of gin from her bar.


1876.

Jan 28: The Bendigo Advertiser advises that Napthali Ingham has applied for sale of his 19th section holding, Parish of Wellsford, 272a 3r 20p.

Mar 07: The Bendigo Advertiser advises that Napthali Ingham's licence application for a rural inn at Axedale, 2r. 37 4-10thsp., is approved.

Oct 19: The McIvor Times advises that Napthali Ingham's application for 24a, 0r, 10p in the Parish of Weston is refused as he had not complied with the regulations of the Land Act in regard to a previous application.


1877.

Apr 14: Heathcote Town and District Coursing Club published a report on the first meeting of the season held on Sydney Plains Estate. Ingham and Boyle (Axedale) dogs competed.

Sep 27: Ingham places an advertisement in the McIvor Times: Wanted, a Bullock Driver. Apply to N. Ingham, Axedale. 25s. per week, and found.


1879.

The Births, Deaths, and Marriages Index shows that Napthali and Mary Ann's son, George Cheshire Ingham, died in Brunswick in 1879, at the age of 17 years. The actual date is not shown. Cornelius is the last son of Napthali Ingham and his death is the end of Napthali's lineage.
